Humphrey and Smith general store records, 1846-1866.

Approximately two-thirds of the collection relates to the store's finances in the form of day books between 1859 and 1863, and bills and receipts between 1848 and 1866. The papers also include store inventories, business correspondence, and legal documents. Among the few papers related to Olin H. Smith are several letters to him from his brother (Walker), ca. 1860, and from Ellen (a friend?), undated. Miscellaneous papers related to Olin H. Smith include an account book of family expenditures for 1862 and 1863. Items that relate to East Burke, Vermont include an 1848 application for an East Burke division of the Sons of Temperance and a list of subscribers for an 1859 singing school.
